Stellar Nursery in a Walk-In Closet. One Room Challenge Spring 2019-Week 3
Week 3 here we go!
This past week has been busy and my main focus has be the actual closet space, where all of our clothes will go. If you are just tuning in for the first time, I am transforming my master closet and giving it a nursery purpose as well.
This master closet had a basic wire structure around the whole room with only 4 shelves on the right side. There was so much wasted space since it only had a rack to hang clothes. My challenge was to find a closet system and organizer which would adapt to the space and accommodate all of our garments.
I found the PAX Wardrobe from IKEA and liked the function and price. It would not require any drilling in the wall and could be modified as needed in the future. At first I wasn’t convinced on having this big piece of furniture in the room but once we assembled it I was so happy with the result. I was able to fit everything that was in the wire structure on a single wall. Besides the PAX interior organizers are really cool, the drawers have a soft close, the pull-out pant hanger allows to place 2 pair on each slot, the shoe shelf has 2 levels to accomodate several pairs of shoes and the system also has the option to place pull-out hampers.
The result: amazing! Everything that was in the walk-in closet is now inside the PAX system, making this the most space efficient piece of furniture I have ever used. I am truly impressed with how much I was able to fit on a single wall of the closet, and took only 2 days to assemble and finish. The most time consuming part was filling in the pre drilled holes with covers, it took about 1200 pieces leaving my thumb quite numb. But it was worth it, because now it looks so much better and put together. It’s always in the details!
My husband was also able to paint the entire room making the space completely fresh and new! Looking at the space now I am certain that it will be enough for our baby boy and will be a comfortable and open space. Now I am still debating on whether or not I should use some kind of curtain system to close off all the closet space so the baby doesn’t have to wake up everyday to a bunch of clothes. What do you think?
During the next week I will be working on the dresser and turning it in a changing table, and also deciding on the rest of the decor for the room. I feel like I still have a lot to do and everyday it is becoming more challenging with a growing belly. Wish me luck and come back next week!
